Amit Kalra is a transdisciplinary artist based in New York, whose work in video, sound and found object sculpture considers relationships between beliefs and behavior across time and space. His current work reflects on the founding of the United States and the presence of those forces today.
Kalra’s work has been exhibited internationally at Grey Light Project’s Atelier in de Staad, Pennsylvania Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg, Campbellsville University and Secondroom Antwerpen. He has presented artist talks at Sarah Lawrence College, Campbellsville University’s Dialogue on Race series, and the SECAC annual conference. He has been a resident at the Vermont Studio Center and a Pratt Production Lab Fellow. Kalra holds a master’s degree from the Royal College of Art’s School of Design and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Hawai’i.
As an educator, Amit has worked with the Royal College of Art, Pratt Institute and the London Metropolitan University.
